Every person has a favorite "go-to" cocktail. If you've ever had the chance to try the signature drink at our RV resort & marina in Nebraska, there's a good chance your favorite is the Watermelon! Haven't had one yet? The Cottonwood Cove is open for our 2018 season, so now is the perfect time to discover this refreshing drink!
Home of the Watermelon
Way back in January of 1982, George Rybin, son of the owners of The Cottonwood Cove at the time, as well as a future owner himself, went on a Carribean cruise. He was accompanied by his then-girlfriend, Sharon Young, who worked at The Cottonwood Cove Marina.
While visiting the islands, they both fell in love with a delicious, knock-you-on-your-a$$ drink called, you guessed it, the Watermelon. It was obvious that this incredible cocktail would be a huge hit back home, so the couple was determined to bring it back to the states to share with everyone at The Cottonwood Cove.
After much persuasion, Sharon sweet-talked the recipe out of the Islanders, and the drink was an immediate hit in Nebraska. That is how Cottonwood became the home of the Watermelon here in the Midwest!
Great Drinks & Incredible Food
This particular cocktail is so popular among visitors to our vacation destination in Nebraska, if you haven't traveled to the Caribbean, you'd believe that this delicious drink was created years and years ago right here. Over time, the Watermelon has become a part of The Cottonwood Cove, so this version truly is all ours.
In addition to this amazing cocktail, our fully-stocked bars can mix up just about anything that your heart desires, plus we've got an excellent selection wines and ice-cold beers to quench your thirst. There's a bar inside the Lodge that returning visitors will recognize, but the outside bar is now attached to our brand new swimming pool! The pool still has a little work to be done before it's ready to jump into, but it's looking great so far.
To go along with whatever delicious drink that you choose, the Lodge also serves up the most mouthwatering food to go along with it. The best bar & restaurant on the Missouri River offers fantastic burgers and sandwiches, amazing appetizers, savory salads, and the most delicious pizza in town. Once the season is in full swing, you'll be able to eat and drink with us to your heart's content 7 days a week. Currently, the Lodge is open every Friday and Saturday from 11 am-1 am, and on Sundays from 11 am-10 pm.
